Project for May

OK, A ton of my photography buddies have done the "ABC" project and I now have the time to do it. Basically the ABC project is I have to take a photo every day and each day the theme or subject of the photo has to correspond with the letter of that day. This project will start on May 1st and will conclude on May 26th.

From May 27th-31st I'll still post pictures but I'm not sure what the theme for those will be yet, maybe I'll go back to some abandon buildings and do those.

Either way May should be a busy month with this project and normal workloads.

Thanks
Taria

Mother's Day Special

I looked at my calendar today and realized that Mother's Day is only about 2 weeks away. So I said to myself "Taria, (because that's what I call me...lol) how can you show your appreciation to not only your mom, but all moms?" After thinking about it the word SPECIAL popped in my head, so here ya go.

Sweet 16 Jayleen

WOW WOW WOW WOW!! I just got home from Miss Jayleen's sweet 16. I had such a fun time with her and her family. I loved every minute of my time with them. Not only did we luck out had have a super warm day (warm for April at least) we had such a mild night that we were able to get some shots outside and NOT freeze. Did I mention we were on the Perth Amboy water front? Eileen and John threw such a nice party it was a shame that Cinderella had to go home at midnight.

Wrecked & Abandoned

Today as I was driving around I came across an abandoned building that looks like it's about to fall down. The building had so much character and as I was at the red light across the street I started wondering what this building was before it went downhill. So just before the light turned green I whipped out my camera and took a quick photo.

I went to a seminar yesterday and one of the lessons was "How to Keep Your Passion for Photography". So today this is a shot for me, and in May I'll be posting about a project I'll be working on.

What do you think?

Class is in session!!

Today I had a very fun time teaching a small group of children about photography for Woodbridge Township Youth Month. We covered basics like panning, lighting, focusing, and distance. I was very nervous right before the workshop but as soon as I saw those little faces it was smooth sailing. I am scheduled to teach another workshop next month for an older crowd and I can't wait. I think I'm pretty good at teaching...lol.

Thanks to Ashley in the Mayor's office for organizing the artist workshop.

Here are a few pictures from today...

Thank you to all the children that took the workshop.
You guys were so much fun to work with!!

Autism Awareness Month

Most people that know me know my 5yr old son was diagnosed with autism when he was 2yrs old. He has improved so much over the years but we still have alot of work to do to get him where he should be to have a productive and fulfilling life. April is National Autism Awareness Month so I'd like to share with you some facts regarding Autism.

Autism is a complex neurological disorder. It effects an individuals behavior, language skills, social skills, and sensory processing system. It's causes are still a mystery to doctors and researchers.

Recent stats show...

* 1 in 94 children in New Jersey has been diagnosed with Autism.
* Autism is the fastest growing developmental disability.
* Autism is four times more prevalent in boys than girls in the US
* More children will be diagnosed with autism this year than with AIDS, diabetes, and cancer combined
* There has been a 172% increase in Autism in the U.S. in the last decade
* It costs America $90 Million a year to take care of Autistic Individuals needs
* The divorce rate for families with an Autistic child is 80%
* Autism has been on the map since 1943
